It is my pleasure to have the chance to write a small forward to this addition to a long chain of booklets on orthodontics.
Bonding of “handles” brackets and retainers is a “sine qua non” for the orthodontist who want to apply forces to the teeth with fixed appliances.
The present addition to the chain goes in details with all aspects of bonding starting with the history followed by a thorough description of the two surfaces, the enamel and the base of the brackets.
The clinical procedures are described in detail as is the possible errors in addition to clinical advice of how to minimize the iatrogenic damages.
The book is nicely illustrated and can definitely be recommended to the dentist or hygienist or orthodontists that are starting the bonding procedure.
Even when in some countries only doctors with a dental degree can do the bonding in other countries the procedure is often delegated to the staff.
Whether one or the other is responsible the book produced by Giulio Alessandri Bonetti will be of value as a prerequisite before boarding the treatments with fixed appliances.
